Serge trained as chemical engineer (at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris) and then in management (Institut d\'Administration des Entreprises de Paris). He worked for several years in the research team of Professor J.E. Dubois (University of Paris 7) and participated in the development of the DARC system (one the first systems to describe chemical molecules with computers). He then worked for the French Government on the development of technical and scientific information systems.In 1991, Serge joined the French Patent Office, first in charge of database developments, then in charge of re-engineering the whole information system using the EPTOS sofware of the European Patent Office. Since November 2008 he is the Director of the National Technical Museum (Conservatoire National des Arts et métiers) in Paris. At the same time, Serge is an associate professor at the University of Marne la Vallée in charge of a course on intangible asset management.
